Lebanon’s Rose وردة لبنان

Christina Hajjar

November 4, 2022 - January 2, 2023

Essay by Jessica Kirk

A fictive hookah lounge storefront, Lebanon’s Rose وردة لبنان is an ode to public spaces of gathering and cultural nourishment. The artist refers to her personal and family archives through symbols and placemaking, upholding quotidian objects for their sentimental aesthetics and embedded social narratives. Influenced by the events of the Lebanese Civil War, Lebanon’s Rose وردة لبنان is an imagined queer space for remembrance, connection, leisure, and pleasure.

Please join us for a special opening reception for this installation: The gathering will take place Friday November 4th from 6PM – 9PM with the artist in attendance! There will be snacks, drinks (CASH BAR for 19+ with ID) and a special one-night only video installation in our External Space by Christina Hajjar. We hope you can join us!
