Cloud Hands looks to Chinese geomancy (风水/feng shui) and rock connoisseurship as practices that acknowledge transformation and transcendence as critical elements in holistic development. Feng shui is based on an understanding that vital energy (/qi) exists in both animate and inanimate objects; qi is particularly expressive throughout mountain ranges where clouds reside. These methodologies have inspired an installation that comprises sculptures and temporal wall paintings. The paintings feature the confluence of figures, clouds, and rocks in dynamic transitory states, while sculptures and meditation cushions offer the viewer the conditions for grounded contemplation.
