This workshop will introduce video editing in Final Cut Pro for Macs. It will cover basics such as importing and labelling video files, splicing, layering, basic colour and speed editing, titling, transitions, basic audio editing, chroma keying (green screen) and exporting.

Footage will be provided and attendees can work independently to manipulate it to their liking. If an attendee wishes to bring their own video files to edit, they may, but the footage provided will be chosen and shot with the intent of illustrating all of the necessary skills for basic editing, and with multiple possible structures in mind. This will emphasize how important video editing is as a means of manipulation and how the decisions made by the editor can change the direction of any footage.

There will have a screening of everyone‘s videos at the end of the workshop!

Please bring:
– Macbook Pro (programs differ between computers)
– A downloaded trial version of Final Cut Pro X for mac
* available here https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/trial/
– A pair of headphones
– A USB key of your own footage if you so choose -ideally HD files-
