Together, we will discuss how clothing was never designed to be a disposable goods and how slow fashion involves learning techniques that extend the life of textiles, changing the way we perceive clothing, unlearning perfectionism, and opening a dialogue about clothing culture, waste and the catastrophic consequences worldwide, with tangible environmental effects in the Atacama desert in Chile. Following a short demonstration of techniques, participants will have the opportunity to work on their own projects using the materials and tools provided. Participants are encouraged to bring old clothing or fabrics that they no longer wear, in order to put what is learned into practice and extend the life of the object.
