In our digital era, the internet shapes our perceptions of reality, including our sense of the physical world. For many, search engines such as Google have become the arbitrator of world cartography. Google has supposedly attempted to be apolitical with their maps, but depending on the political reality of the place you’re currently in, the reality of the Google map you access changes. Hopping for Hope is a video work that explores the immigrant experience of moving from one country to another mediated through digital technology, creating an experience of reality that is altered and disorienting in nature.
