It Can Only Mean One Thing is a digital collage that emphasizes the chaotic structure of online media through a combination of iconic music videos, commercials, and other viral content. Online material is often presented sequentially as distinct instances in a predefined structure, which masks the quantity of data. The overlap of multiple types of footage creates an overwhelming cascade of information. Over time this desensitizes the viewer to the meaning of the content and removes its lasting impact.
