Taxes are particularly perplexing and stressful for artists, designers and independent creatives. By understanding the tax system and how it affects your practice, youโll pay less taxes and avoid falling prey to erroneous information. Most visual artists and/or designers are considered self-employed when filing their taxes. In a legal sense this means that your business as a creative worker, and you as an individual taxpayer, are one and the same. Also, as an artist, there are a number of deductions that are unique to you!
