Colin Rosati’s Data Library displays an assemblage of 3D artifacts placed within a fabricated virtual environment. By juxtaposing found 3D objects with those created by the artist via digital and physical means (Cinema 4D, Photoshop and 3D scanning), the work explores viewers’ perceptions and expectations in relation to simulated objects and environments. Using visual cues to reference physicality within the virtual space, Data Library challenges physical relationships to virtual objects, in hopes of generating expanded views about these digitized forms.
