AliveLife by Rui Filipe Antunes

LAUNCH PROJECT

The Vitruvian man in invoked in this work as a representation of the classical conception of man in the center of the world, in contrast with the centrality of information which characterizes contemporaneity. In ALiveLife, the pixels from the digital representation of the Vitruvian Man, originally a drawing from Leonardo da Vinci, become alive. The darker pixels have the gift of live and eat the lighter pixels which are their nutrients. These living pixels act as human skin cells, as they have implemented the basic behavior of an epithelium squamous cell. On their search for nutrients these cell/agents continually reinterpret the image.
