Lapses of Clarity is an ongoing painting series that amalgamates Arabic letters into illegible forms. Bent three dimensionally, the letters demonstrate the abstract nature of language. The window space publicizes Arabic language as well as making painting more accessible to the public. The work engages with the concept of unitary urbanism, developed by Situationist Internationale that describes the collection of various practices in public that resist universalist modes of communication. Lapses of Clarity  is juxtaposed with its surrounding street signs, billboard ads and storefront logos, thus integrating art and life through what Jacques Ranciére calls heteronomy.
