Can queerness alone condemn despite living a life of relative morality?

A spotlight shines below a self-portrait, inserting Philip Ocampo into the narrative of St. Michael the warrior, who banished Lucifer the archangel from heaven for doubting the authority of his God. Ocampo places himself in the position of Lucifer, with the sword of St. Michael piercing his heart. The artwork asks the viewer to consider the parallels between the biblical narrative and the artist’s own.
